#Ghost recon advanced warfighter 2 online ps3 ps3#
I mean, it's not like they take the snake-cam away from you in Vegas 2.Īfter a couple of weeks away, I fired this up again yesterday and the game hard-crashed my PS3 twice in half an hour. Early on, the game gives you a UAV that you can use to spy on enemy positions, and maybe the devs were thinking of this as handholding (?), but it's the only interesting bit I encountered and it seems to go away in the second half. They might kill a guy once in a while, but mostly they're just fodder that you send out in front of you so you don't get shot unexpectedly. It really doesn't matter where they are, what loadouts you give them, whether they're in recon mode or weapons-free, etc. The game also makes a big deal out of your ability to give orders to your three squadmates, especially when it comes to positioning them in key tactical spots as you sweep through hostile territory, but there's nothing really going on there either. It feels like a team of interns was handed an engine and some core mechanics.
The objectives, the layouts, the sniping, the ambushes - there just isn't much going on. There was that one sequence with night-vision goggles in the graveyard - that was alright, I suppose. It's a tactical game without interesting tactical scenarios. I would think, "these mechanics could support a decent game." Then I would turn it off. But, the level design is just sort of on leave. But even with awkward controls for weapon-switching, zooming, shoulder-swapping, crouching etc, it seems like you should be able to work with it. Sure, the interface is clunky, which is confusing since it's a close cousin to the vastly improved interface in Vegas 2. Reasons for Quitting: This is a perplexing experience.
